Reupholstery FAQs
We restore, protect, and extend the life of your furniture.
Whether your piece needs a full transformation or simply better protection, we combine expert artisans, curated materials, and seamless logistics to deliver a like-new result, without replacing what you already own.
For standard pieces shown on our "Restore" page, we list pricing both with and without material.
Options include our curated performance fabrics or leather, selected for durability and everyday use.
Both options include:
* Full inspection & hygiene check
* Careful removal of existing upholstery
* Respect for the original maker’s craftsmanship, restoring the piece to a like-new appearance and finish
* Handcrafted work by local US artisans: patterning, cutting, and sewing of new custom covers
* Light repadding to refresh comfort and shape (adding dacron or feather where needed)
* Pick-up within ~50 miles of Midtown Manhattan (COI included if required)
Not included: Re-delivery fee & local sales tax
1/ Material selection
This is the main price driver.
Performance fabrics (recycled fibers or 100% polyester with built-in protection) are the most cost-efficient and durable.
Premium options such as designer fabrics or leather hides are higher in cost.
2/ Piece complexity
Additional work may apply for:
* Tufting or intricate detailing
* Recliner sofas
* Full infill replacement (when materials are worn or low quality)
If your sofa is well made, reupholstering is often the smarter choice for your wallet, your home, and the environment.
1. Financial value
High-quality pieces (from brands like Roche Bobois, Pierre Yovanovitch, Restoration Hardware, or Ralph Lauren Home) are built to last. They typically require only light repadding, not a full rebuild, keeping costs low.
Restoration is often 25–30% of purchasing new high-end furniture.
2. Sustainability & convenience
Millions of sofas are discarded every year. Restoring yours avoids waste and reduces environmental impact while delivering a like-new result in ~30 days, without the long lead times of overseas production.
3. Emotional value
Some pieces are worth keeping. Whether it’s comfort, design, or memories, restoration lets you keep what you love, simply improved.
4. Local Craftsmanship
Each project supports local US artisans across multiple crafts: upholstery, stitching, leather work, woodwork, and cabinetmaking, preserving both traditional skills and the integrity of the original piece.
We specialize in high-end designer sofas and have restored pieces from brands like Roche Bobois, Ligne Roset, BoConcept, Minotti, Restoration Hardware, Ralph Lauren Home, Holly Hunt, Natuzzi, Fritz Hansen, Baker Furniture, Bernhardt, etc.
Some are recent models, others have been loved for over 20 years. As long as the frame is well built, we can typically bring a piece back to life with a like-new finish.
While restoration is often significantly more cost-effective than buying new high-end furniture, it remains handcrafted work in the U.S., involving skilled artisans and quality materials, so there is a natural baseline cost.
That said, we are not limited to luxury brands. We can technically restore a wide range of furniture, from antiques to more standard pieces, and regularly work on custom projects such as banquettes or fully bespoke OneOff® creations.
Yes. We offer two options:
* Option 1: Choose from our curated range of performance fabrics or leather, selected for durability, ease of maintenance, and everyday use
*Option 2 (COM): You provide the fabric, and we handle everything else
For restoration, our pricing is listed both with and without material, depending on the type of piece. For more specific configurations, we provide tailored quotes, with or without material, based on your project.
Our team will guide you in selecting the right material to match:
* The look and feel of your space (texture, color, finish)
* Your lifestyle (pets, kids, maintenance needs)
* Your budget (explaining fibers differences and features)
Each option is curated individually, starting from the base materials and pricing listed online.
We also send swatches anywhere in the U.S., so you can see and feel the material in your space before proceeding.
You can also order samples directly online here: Performance material swatches
For restoration projects, the process typically takes around 30 days from material reception to delivery:
*When selecting OneOff® performance fabrics or leathers, materials are in stock and included within this timeline
* For COM (Customer’s Own Material) projects, the 4-week timeline begins once we receive your fabric or leather
This timeline applies to our core service area within New York and a ~100-mile radius, including parts of New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.
In some cases, expedited options may be available depending on material selection and production volume.
For projects outside this area, please contact us to confirm availability, as we are actively expanding into new regions.
In most cases, yes better even.
Our goal is to restore your sofa to a like-new condition while extending its life with better materials and updated style. Many of our clients are stunned by the transformation.
OneOff® Care is a professional upholstery protection treatment designed to preserve your furniture from day one or extend the life of pieces you already own.
It can be applied:
* Before delivery at our partner brands’ warehouses (currently with Roche Bobois in the Northeast U.S.)
*At home, directly on your existing furniture
Each treatment includes:
* Water-based and PFAS-free (no forever chemical) protective application (liquid-repellent)
* 1× spot-cleaning bottle to treat fresh stains
* Expert guidance on maintaining your piece over time
Additional services are available if needed:
* Professional spot cleaning
* Deep upholstery cleaning
OneOff® Care is designed as a complement to restoration, a circular solution that helps maintain, protect, and extend the life of your furniture when full reupholstery isn’t necessary.
OneOff® Vault is our exclusive inventory collection of restored designer furniture, combining the best of new and vintage.
Pieces are primarily sourced from designer brand inventories, including our partner Roche Bobois: often from overstock or showroom pieces that have been stored but never fully utilized.
They are offered:
* Through partner outlets (such as the Roche Bobois Northeast U.S. outlet in Paramus, New Jersey / Roche Bobois pieces only)
* Or directly on our e-commerce, where you can customize the upholstery with OneOff performance fabrics or leather
We then complete the restoration within 30 days with full reupholstery, comfort refresh, and finishing to deliver a piece as good as new, tailored to your selection.
All pieces are directly available and prices typically range from –25% to –60% below retail, depending on the piece and level of customization.
Vault offers a new way to access high-end design: reviving exceptional pieces already produced, rather than creating new ones.
