Embark on a journey of Italian design excellence with B&B Italia—where each piece tells a story of collaboration, sophistication, and timeless beauty, all made in Italy.
Antonio Citterio, born in 1950 in Meda (Milano), began his design journey after graduating from Politecnico di Milano in 1975. Establishing his design firm in 1972, he later collaborated with Terry Dwan from 1987 to 1996, creating architectural marvels across Europe and Japan.
Renowned as both an architect and designer, Citterio co-founded an architecture and interior design firm with Patricia Viel in 2000. Operating as "Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel," the firm engages in large-scale global projects. Citterio actively contributes to industrial design, notably collaborating with B&B Italia on iconic pieces like the Charles sofa.
Honored with the Compasso d'Oro-ADI twice (1987 and 1994), Citterio served as a professor of Architectural Design at the Mendrisio Academy of Architecture from 2006 to 2016. In 2008, he received the title of "Royal Designer for Industry" from the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce of London. Additionally, Citterio serves as the art director of Maxalto, Arclinea, and Azucena.
